15.3hh American Paint gelding, Born 2007
Jackson has never met a stranger and loves everyone he meets! This pretty boy was professionally trained in dressage and also dabbled in liberty work. He is owned and loved by our own instructor, Corinna, and we are grateful for the loan of this good gelding.
16.2hh Roan Brabamt mare, Born 2008
The Brabant, also called the Belgian Heavy Draft, is one of the oldest draft breeds with roots in medieval Europe. With her unique roan color and massive size, Izzy is a stunner in the “big horse” herd. From the first day, Izzy has shown herself to be a perfect therapy horse. She came to us from friends in Ohio who also brought Bishop, Queen, Pip, and Braveheart to our program.
13.2hh, Norwegian Fjord mare, Born 2017
Solveig, which means “strength of the sun,” was a proud representative of the Fjord breed at the KY Horse Park before coming to SU!. She has been shown in breed shows and is an excellent example of the strong body, beautiful dun color, and good mind of this Norwegian horse.
16hh Quarter Horse gelding, Born 2001
Woody came to Saddle Up! after a successful career as a school horse at Asbury University in Kentucky and is on loan from owner Lisa Thompson. Woody is kind and gentle and has smooth gaits with easy transitions. He will work with our riders at every gait and can be trusted to be a good off lead horse for our advanced riders. He is a true gem!
14.3hh Paint gelding, Born 2003
Sandman came to Saddle Up! with his best buddy, Woody. He was previously a show and schooling horse at Asbury University and is on loan from owner Lisa Thompson. Sandman is a perfect therapy horse, quiet with his riders under every circumstance — a true “Steady Eddy” and we are thrilled he has joined our handsome herd of paint geldings.
16.3hh Spotted Draft Cross gelding, Born 2010
Ronan began his life as a husband horse, he was then trained to bring a young girl’s vaulting dreams alive. Though Ronan was well loved and trained, his little girl advanced at vaulting faster than his body allowed him to, so with many tears the decision was made to sell Ronan. His purchase for the SU! Adaptive Vaulting program was generously funded in honor of Thomas and Barbara Schommer. Ronan’s steadiness and loving personality fit right in at SU! and his love of food and affection are noted by all who work with him. Our vaulting program is so glad to have him!
15hh Quarter Horse mare, Born 2014
Taylor (so named because of the “13” brand on her shoulder) was part of a broodmare band and then taken to a sale widely known as a pipeline to slaughter. Thankfully, our good friends in Ohio saw her potential, saved her, put time into her, and helped her find her way to us. Taylor has learned her job and figured out that people are good and lots of scratches and attention is even better.
